18 May DPG partner nominated for Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards
One of DPG’s partners, Gareth Mitchell, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards.
In announcing the award nominations today, the Legal Aid Practitioners Group’s director, Carol Storer, said:
“It is such a privilege to be able to celebrate the ground breaking, life changing work of access to justice lawyers. The calibre of this year’s nominations was staggeringly high, and a real reflection of the expertise, grit and compassion which characterises the legal aid sector.”
In shortlisting Gareth, LAPG have drawn particular attention to Gareth’s recent High Court success in the case of Kim Jones v Southwark Council which resulted in £28.7 million in refunds being paid to tens of thousands of council tenants in Southwark.
The winners will be announced by Baroness Doreen Lawrence at a ceremony in central London on 5 July 2017. The LALYS are run on a not-for-profit basis by LAPG and are now into their 15th year.
