Undercover Policing Inquiry: family of Rolan Adams shows direct link to societal and police racism

On 21 February 1991, Rolan Adams and his younger brother Nathan were on their way home from playing table-tennis at a local youth club when they were both brutally attacked by a gang of racist white youths. Rolan was fatally stabbed in the throat. Rolan was 15 and Nathan was 14.  They were not the first black boys to be attacked in the area. Several others had been hospitalised in the months leading up to Rolan’s tragic murder. When Richard, Audrey and other family members and friends set up a campaign to call for justice for Rolan, the Metropolitan Police decided to spy on the campaign. The Metropolitan Police finally apologised on 14 October 2024 for doing so.

Deighton Pierce Glynn are representing Richard, Audrey and Nathan Adams at the Under Cover Policing Inquiry.  Rajiv Menon KC delivered opening submissions at the Inquiry on Monday 14 October 2024 on behalf of, Richard, Audrey and Nathan Adams.
